A thrombosis is a blood clot which can develop in the circulatory system and interfere with blood flow and the function of the heart. Zontivity is used to help prevent blood clots in patients who have a history of myocardial infarction (MI) or peripheral arterial disease (PAD). Zontivity is not used alone. It is used with other antiplatelet medications. The doctor may prescribe the use of aspirin or other antiplatelet medications like clopidogrel. Zontivity should be stored at room temperature. Possible side effects include bleeding, depression, anemia, and skin rashes. Zontivity comes in pill form and can be taken with or without food. This medication is not to be prescribed to people with severe hepatic impairment due to the risk of severe bleeding. People who have had a stroke should not take Zontivity.
