After my bone marrow transplant I developed hemorrhagic cystitis. I had blood in the urine which was a sign that my bladder may be bleeding. I took Mesnex to reduce the bleeding. I was taking Mesnex orally after given an injection. It helps by reducing the bleeding. I experienced loss of appetite, my mouth felt dry and I just didnt urinate as often. The effects of Mesnex as far as decreasing bleeding of the bladder seemed to have good results since I dont bleed while urinating. Mesnex only alleviates one of the effects of cancer treatment; it doesnt cure cancer or blocks any other side effects.

Taking mesnex to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis
To prevent hemorrhagic cystitis I had to take a medication call Mesnex. I was told that as part of my cancer treatment I had to take ifosfamide. Ifosfamide is a strong drug that works by reducing the rate of growth of cancer cells. Unfortunately, it appears that most chemotherapy drugs have some sort of side effect. Therefore, you must take another medicine to decrease the side effects of a medicine you are taking to treat your ailment. To me it is all so confusing, so I just follow my doctors directions. Mesnex must be taken to reduce or stop bladder bleeding that may be caused by the taking of ifosfamide. I think this medicine; Mesnex has alleviated the potential bladder bleeding since I havent seen blood in the urine.
