Reviews For Kalexate
High potassium symptoms
Palpitations in my heart were frequent on a daily basis. It made me feel weird, like a tingling in my fingers. I was nauseous with difficulty breathing. Those symptoms forced me to make an appointment with my physician. After an extensive physical, the doctor decided to run a blood test. My potassium levels were too high; this was causing all the underlined symptoms. The solution was simple; lowering potassium levels would rid me of the symptoms. Kalexate is a liquid medicine administered in the hospital. I had to go twice a day to the hospital to get a tube inserted to dispense the medicine. That was the downside of the medicine. In the flip side, after four days my potassium levels were significantly lower and my other symptoms were gone. In addition, I must avoid certain items in my diet that may contain high potassium.

Kidney problems may cause higher potassium levels
After being diagnosed with kidney stones, I was also found with high levels of potassium in my bloodstream. Mild hyperkalemia was the diagnosis. If the kidneys dont function properly it can disrupt the excretion of potassium from the body. Then, I had to be treated for the stones and also the high potassium. Before having the kidney stones removed I was taking Kalexate, which was taken rectally three times a day so I could excrete the excess potassium via rectum instead or through the urinary tract. After checking my potassium levels again, there was a good drop. Now, once we get rid of the stones I shouldnt need any help maintaining regular potassium levels.
