Overcoming suspicion with Schizophrenia
Living with Schizophrenia can be very lonely. This condition seems to push people away. It repels any chance for me to have a real connection with someone. Before I was diagnosed I couldnt keep friends. Every time I liked anyone I could hear a voice that made me suspicious of him or her. This went on for many years but it became progressively worse. Isolation was the result of my condition. Eventually, while I was taking a psych class in college I came to the conclusion that professional help was needed. I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and so started another chapter of my life. Medication was a big challenge. Some of this meds have too many side effects with some being very serious. Fazaclo is an anti-psychotic that has worked really well in decreasing hallucinations. It is so much easier talking to people and sustaining some form of friendship after taking this drug.

Suicidal thoughts, a sign of mental infirmity
College can be a very stressful experience. Anxiety after moving to a whole different setting, away from home and former friends is not uncommon. I was feeling very depressed after moving alone in a basement deprived of lighting. The apartment just had one sad window so most of my lighting was artificial. My living accommodations coupled with the added stress of change drove me into a dark place in my soul I thought I never escaped. At times I thought about ending it. I could hear whispers calling me to that dark place. I felt helpless. Fortunately, my parents caught on that there was something wrong. After seen the physiatrist I was given Fazaclo to stop my suicidal thoughts from taking over me. I am doing much better now after realizing the problem and dealing with it. I am not in that dark place anymore.
