Used for Relief from Traveler’s Diarrhea
We recently visited Mexico on a cruise to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Nothing like ending a romantic vacation with a bout of diarrhea. I did not know what was going on. At first I thought I had food poisoning. But the doctor eventually diagnosed it as traveler’s diarrhea likely from consuming the water in Mexico. My teenagers recently went to Cancun, Mexico for Spring Break and my son returned with a serious case of diarrhea, cramps, and bloating. I called the manufacturer and talked to the about getting assistance. they said they would get back in touch with me and I never received a email or telephone call. The price I was quoted for this medication was $5300. We are retired and that is a ridiculous amount to think any patient could afford. I am looking for help for people on fixed incomes. I too am looking for help with lower costs for Xifaxan. This is the only drug available to help people with advanced stage liver disease. The price is ridiculous for most but the very rich. Why are companies not coming forward with help? I can’t even find the name of the manufacturer so I can beg for help. Being poor should not be a reason to be deprived of medication that eases pain and slows down the progression of this horrible disease. If anyone knows the name of the manufacturer, please contact me.
In the meantime, I am contacting our government and asking why this is allowed. It’s time for people to stand up against these giants that hold us prisoner to their demands for ever increasing prices for medication.

I have worked my whole life as a single mom raising 5 kids. I was recently diagnosed with liver disease which was only discovered by by behavior. I have Obama care one however after reauthorization my 30 day rd is 952. I am unable to work and have no income or no savings. I just contacted an attorney to initiate disability.
