Since my insurance covered Nexium, I’ve been on it for almost 10 years. I also tried Protronix,Prilosec,Prevacid (30 mg daily and 30mg a day). terrible diarrhea after taking Prevacid. Nexium is the best. My latest insurance company wanted me to try Dexilant for a month before covering Nexium. like taking two 30mg Prevacids, taking 60 mg Dexilant daily. After taking a month, in addition to colds and diarrhea does not have any effect. then I come back to Nexium, things began to get better. Every 6 months I will check the calcium and magnesium levels, it is normal.

I have Humana insurance. Over the years I have tried most of the products to take care of my acid reflux including Prilosec, Protonix & Prevacid. None of them gave me much relief. Several years ago I tried Nexium. It works great. Last year my insurance switched my Nexium to the generic esomeprazole. It seems to work like the Nexium. Humana has classified the esomeprazole as a Tier 3 drug hiking the cost to $75 for a 30 day supply. I am on disability and am covered by my wife’s work plan. I called Humana’s Pharmacy line for a possible replacement or substitution. They offered the products listed above which never worked. Switching back to Nexium was my logical choice but HUMANA DOES NOT COVER NEXIUM AT ALL SO THE COST TO ME WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $212+! We have heard of the $125 savings card but I don’t know any details about it. I called the 800 number but wasn’t able to get enough information through the automated system & it didn’t give me the option of speaking to a representative. Any help available to remedy this situation would be appreciated
